Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Paragould, Ark. – Playing away from home on a Thursday for the first time this season, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Crowley's Ridge Pioneers today in a doubleheader at Pioneer Field. CBC (25-16, 10-4 AMC) scored 31 runs in a sweep of CRC (16-23-1, 3-10-1 AMC), winning 14-4 and 17-7.

GAME ONE – CBC 14, CRC 4

The Mustangs put up a four spot in the second inning on a two-run double by Garrett Fitts, a passed ball and a sac fly by Ryan Dauphinee and led 4-1 after CRC scored a run in the bottom of the inning. An Aaron Prince three-run home run in the third inning stretched the lead to 7-1 and a Cesar Franco sac fly in the fourth made it 8-1. CRC cut the lead to 8-3 in the fifth before CBC scored six in the sixth inning on a single by Devin Miller, Prince's second three-run home run of the game and seventh of the season and the first home run in the career of Garrett Fitts, a two-run blast to make it 14-3. A run crossed the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but CBC ended the game thanks to a great outing from Jaxon Kirkhuff. Kirkhuff threw a complete game for his third win of the season, allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) with six Ks.

GAME TWO – CBC 17, CRC 7 (EIGHT INNINGS)

The Mustangs' power surge continued in game two as Preston White brought home the first two runs of the game with a two-run homer. CBC would then put the game to bed in the second inning, scoring 11 runs on nine hits to lead 13-0 after two. Josh Lumsden hit his first home run as a Mustang, a two-run blast to start the scoring followed by a three-run shot by Ryan Dauphinee three batters later. Franco's second sac fly of the day made it 9-0 before a Lumsden double added another run followed by an error and a two-run single by Brayden Mayencourt rounded out the scoring. CRC made it 13-2 after three and a Mayencourt groundout in the fourth made it 14-2. The Pioneers would score four in the seventh to make it 14-6 before the Mustangs scored three more in the eighth on Cameron Harden's first career home run, a White double and an error. The final run scored in the bottom half. Ryan Meyer picked up the win in relief.
