Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Columbia

            Columbia, Mo. – Playing on the road in the American Midwest Conference for the second straight week, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Columbia Cougars today at Battle High School. CBC (26-19, 11-6 AMC) was swept in a doubleheader by CC (24-9-1, 14-2-1 AMC) 2-1 and 10-0.

GAME ONE – COLUMBIA 2, CBC 1

            CBC got on the board first in the top of the first inning on a single by Ryan Dauphinee but were equaled in the bottom of the first and the score was 1-1 after one. Columbia scored in the fourth to take the lead and CBC had multiple opportunities to take the lead but didn't come through. Jaxon Kirkhuff threw a complete game, allowing five hits and striking out four.

GAME TWO – COLUMBIA 10, CBC 0 (SEVEN INNINGS)

            Columbia scored two in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth and three in the seventh for all their runs. Kirkhuff and Cesar Franco both had two hits.

UP NEXT

            The Mustangs and Cougars wrap up their series tomorrow at Battle High School with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
