#MustangsWin! CBC Secures A Spot In AMC Title Game!
Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director
Ozark, Mo. – Looking for a third trip to the American Midwest Conference Tournament championship game, Central Baptist College baseball took on Williams Baptist University with a trip to the finals on the line. CBC (33-18) scored twice in the third inning and beat WBU (30-19) 2-1 to clinch a spot in tomorrow's title game.
The first run scored on a bases loaded walk to catcher Danilo Taborda to make it 1-0 followed immediately by a sac fly from starting pitcher Jaxon Kirkhuff to give CBC a 2-0 lead. WBU would score in the sixth, but that was the only blemish on the pitching line for Kirkhuff. He scattered eight hits in eight innings, allowing an unearned run while striking out five. Jamin Smith picked up his fourth save, throwing the ninth and allowing a hit and a walk.
First pitch of tomorrow's championship game is at 3 p.m.
