Mustangs Drop A Pair To Owls on Senior Day

            Conway, Ark. – Playing for the final time at home on a Saturday this season, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Owls of William Woods University in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader on Senior Day at City of Colleges Park. Nine seniors, Caroline Byers, Corina Garcia, Anna Marie Sternisha, Abi West, Olivia Pickard, Baylie Ainsworth, Allie McWhorter, Madalyn Tubbs and Alex Jeter were all recognized before CBC (24-22, 13-7 AMC) got swept 4-2 in both games by WWU (26-15, 16-4 AMC).

GAME ONE – WILLIAM WOODS 4, CBC 2 (12 INNINGS)

            The Mustangs got on the board first in the second on a wild pitch that scored Elizabeth Stoufer and made it 1-0 after two. In the fourth, the Mustangs doubled their lead on a single by Taviah Bradley that made it 2-0. The Owls would tie the game in the fifth and the score would remain 2-2 until the 12th inning when the Owls scored twice with no answer to take the game. The 12 innings was tied for the longest game by innings in program history.

GAME TWO – WILLIAM WOODS 4, CBC 2

            WWU scored first in game two, tallying a run in the first and two in the third to lead 3-0 after three. CBC finally broke through in the sixth, plating two runs on an RBI single by Kinley Johnson and an RBI single by Sydney Weiser. WWU added a run in the seventh to bring the score to its final margin.

UP NEXT

            CBC will take on AMC newcomer mission in their final conference doubleheader of the season. First pitch from Ozark, Mo., on Tuesday is scheduled for noon.
