#LadyMustangsWin! Hudspeth Beats The Buzzer To Give CBC A Sweep of Harris-Stowe!

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

St. Louis, Mo. – Addison Hudspeth's three-pointer at the buzzer this afternoon gave Central Baptist College women's basketball (7-11, 4-6 American Midwest Conference) a 65-63 win this afternoon at the Emerson Performance Center over Harris-Stowe State (4-12, 3-7 AMC). Hudspeth's shot capped off a game that saw 6 ties and 17 lead changes.

"I'm really proud of the way our group responded today after Thursday's game," said coach Kory Heffentrager after the game. "They fully bought into the game plan and competed until the final buzzer. When we didn't secure the rebound in the final seconds, they didn't stop playing. They stayed locked in and made the next play and that effort was rewarded with Addison knocking down the game winner!" Hudspeth's three gave her 11 points on the game and underscored another dominant performance by Raigan Head, who scored 25 points and tied her own single-game program record with 20 rebounds. Lexi Duck added 11 points off the bench.

GAME FLOW

The game was close the whole way with CBC trailing 17-15 after a quarter and leading 28-26 at the break. CBC would take a 48-39 lead, their largest of the contest, into the final period of play. Harris-Stowe would make the first field goal of the quarter with 9:19 left before Cammi Christie nailed a pair of free throws to keep the lead at nine. HSSU then went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to three with 7:32 left before a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Lady Mustangs pushed the lead back to seven (56-49) and kept it at seven until the Hornets cut the lead to 60-57 with 2:37 remaining. With 1:49 left, HSSU cut the lead to one before Hudspeth canned a pair of free throws with 1:27 remaining to make it 62-59. Those would be CBC's final points until the buzzer beater as HSSU made jumpers with 1:12 left and 26 seconds to go to put the Lady Mustangs down and setup the drama at the end. With nine seconds left, Duck missed two chances to give CBC the lead before redeeming herself with a steal and a heady pass to Hudspeth, who knocked down a three with a hand in her face to give the Lady Mustangs a sweep of Harris-Stowe this season.
