Conway, Ark. – Opening the 2025-26 with a new coach and an almost entirely new roster, Central Baptist College men's basketball hosted the Philander Smith Panthers inside A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (0-1) blew a 38-36 halftime lead in a competitive game, falling 81-74 to PSU (1-0) on the first night of competition in the NAIA.
Jason Hunt led four Mustangs in double figures with 24 points while Tyler Johnson added 15 and both Tytan Newton and Dalton Alexander III both chipped in with 11. CBC only committed nine turnovers, but were minus-four on the glass and only made 11 of their 22 free throw attempts.
CBC heads to Tulsa, Okla., tomorrow night for an exhibition game against Oral Roberts. Tipoff from the Mabee Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
